Falafel is a very famous Arab food that Arabs usually eat for breakfast. Egyptian  Falafel is usually served with fava beans and Baladi salad

 

Types of falafel

Falafel has two types, the Egyptian type (which is the recipe for today) and the Arab falafel.

The difference between the Egyptian falafel And the Arab falafel is in its main ingredient. The Egyptian falafel is ground dried split fava beans, with vegetables, garlic and spices added.

As for the Arabic falafel, it is ground chickpeas with vegetables and garlic added.

 

How To Know That You Made The Authentic Egyptian Falafel?

 

In order for you to know that you attended the original Egyptian falafel, the color of the falafel should be copper, unlike the Arabic falafel, which is dark
Also, while frying in oil, it should remain firm.

 

The things you need to prepare before cooking Egyptian Falafel.

First, the dried split fava beans must be soaked for at least 6 hours.

Second, you must soak half a loaf of white Arabic bread in water for 10 minutes.

Note: Falafel does not take long at all to prepare, so it is preferable to soak the beans a day before cocking so that the cocking is very easy.

 

The Authentic Egyptian Falafel (Ta’ameya)

 

INGREDIENTS

  

  1. ½ Kilo dried split fava beans (Soaked in water at least 6 hours)
  2. 1 small onion
  3. ½ loaf of Arabic bread soaked in water
  4. Half cup chopped leeks
  5. Half cup chopped coriander
  6. Half cup chopped dill
  7. 8 garlic cloves
  8. 1 teaspoon Salt
  9. 3 teaspoon Sesame
  10. Half cup finely chopped coriander (coarse)
  11. 1 Teaspoon chili powder
  12. 1 pinch baking Soda
  13. 2 Cup Oil

INSTRUCTIONS

 

  1. In a large bowl, put the beans, coriander, dill, Leeks, garlic and onion (chop the onions).
  2. Put half a loaf of white bread soaked in water on the previous mixture
  3. Mix all ingredients together
  4. Using a blender , mix all the ingredients well
  5. Add chili powder, salt, and half a spoonful of dry coriander
  6. Put a sprinkle of baking soda and using an electric mixer, mix the falafel well for 3 minutes (this step is important in order for the falafel to be crispy on the outside)
  7. To make falafel balls, take a portion of the falafel and put it in a food bag (as shown in the picture).
  8. Open the bag on one side and take a few falafel
  9. Put the oil in a frying pan and make it very hot, then put the falafel balls in the oil (use a small bowl of water) to make the balls easier to make.
  10. To make Egyptian falafel with sesame, put a pinch of sesame and dry coriander on a plate and stir well
  11. Make the falafel in the form of a circle, then put your hand in the sesame dish, then put your hand on each side of the falafel (after each time put your hand in the water to facilitate the placement of the sesame)
  12. When the falafel takes on a copper color, flip it over to the other side
  13. Put the falafel in a strainer to drain all the oil
  14. Put the falafel on the serving plate

NOTES

Do not use any type of bread other than white Arabic bread so that the color of the falafel is not darkPut some very little baking soda
